Head On Collision

Poem Head On Collision Image by SFX

Car crash in slow motion
metal meets metal,
screeching destruction
drawn out
into a symphonic sigh
cast iron grinds slowly
inevitably then the shrill
violin shards shatter, fly -

forward and forward,
together, grating together,
obliterating the steering,
the controls, the driver
the seats, the passengers,
all folds into itself, each other

the petrol tanks collide,
explode, just fire and charred
splinter bullets find their aim
into the brains of those
who stopped to gape -

how do you like
this metaphor
for our relationship,
my darling?
