Shamanic Poem
Fish Person
by StarFields
Hello, hello,
and who are you today?
I'd like
to see you far away,
deep below,
at the bottom
of a well.
A well of tears,
a well of fears,
an entrance to a nightmare
labyrinth, an underworld
that was submerged
a million years ago.
I become a fish person,
sleek and silver,
opal scales my highly
fitting wedding dress,
and breathing water
cold my blood,
it rushes freely
and I dive.
Pale blue
dark green,
gives way to sleepy blue
and denser comes the darkness
as I dive with ease,
I slide between
into the waiting depth,
that hugs me tighter,
closer, in a welcome
cold and old,
familiar and more familiar,
as change occurs afresh and eyes
unlike the eyes of day
awaken from their ancient sleep
begin to see the colours,
see the dancing lights and shapes
that I've remembered in my dreams
yet never when awake
could they be found
or even thought about,
or hoped for
as they now arise again -
Here I flow home without a breath,
awakening at last and here is
where my lovers are awaiting me
so that we complete
the dance.
