Freedom Song

If I was
to sing to you,
would you
listen?

Would you slowly
turn your head,
eyes to the floor,
then raise them
to meet mine?

Would I be able
to sustain the sound,
the clarity and purity
of my endeavour,
of my vision
for you, for me,
for our harmony,
alignment,
so that we
could be
more free
than we
would be
if we were
on our own?

I smile and sing,
a simple song
of hope and future -
finally,
it melts your heart,
and finally,
you too now find
your voice.
